Although I don’t get the very often I do like the old fashioned sweets which are probably terrible for your teeth. Great big glass jars of things like rhubarb and custards, pear drops and of course Uncle Joe’s mint balls which are made in my home town of Wigan. Modern sweets have their place but there is something special about a quarter of sweets selected from a big glass jar with a small silver shovel. Nice to have a little packet whilst you are writing.  They really should bring that back.
