Greetings from novella land, its beautiful here. Now that my work is finished I can lay back in this hammock, sip a little cocktail and enjoy the sunshine. Said no writer, ever.
The truth is the production of a book, whether this is poetry (done this) novella (doing this) or full blown novel (erm its in the works, but a long way from done) is a series of progressions, stages, and continued hard work. Writing, editing, final drafting, all within the writers skill set. Then obviously when you are done with that you can just knock up a cool book cover using the other arty skills you have yet to learn. Then you can take your writers deerstalker off and put on the marketing and promotion beret. Because of course if you want anyone to read your book they are going to have to buy it, or steal it.
Still, there is no guarantee that despite all your efforts, costume changes and endlessly talking to anyone who will listen about your masterpiece, there is every chance that no one will read it. Does that mean it’s a bad book? Of course not. I really feel that is not the reason you started writing it in the first place. You did it for yourself, by yourself. It is your achievement. Sure, it would be nice if the book sold a billion copies and the film rights set you up for life but actually if none of those things were to happen, and only you knew about your accomplishment, it would all still be worth it, right?
Thanks for reading!, as always appreciate your thoughts and feedback
