What is something you wish you could tell your 20-year-old self?

I wrote a lot when I was younger, stories poems and essays. For some reason, I think work and life pressures as the by went by I just never seemed to find the time for it, never quite able.to finish anything. When covid hit I realised that if I didn’t pursue the dream, to write a book, I  would regret it. We were all surrounded by people who had simply run out of time to pursue their dreams.

So I started again, poems, short stories, more poems. I got a short collection accepted and published. I wrote more, more.small press publications came. Then one day a story came to mind that didn’t feel the same as the others.  It was more in depth, slightly darker. It became my first novel Chopsticks.  I had made it happen. An actual novel of my own. Now there are several more in the pipeline.

If there is anything I could tell my 20 year old self it’s that keeping going, pursue the dream relentlessly. Will it into being. Otherwise you may always find yourself asking what if.
